I planned on posting Saturday night to get back into the flow of things after the turkey stuffed holiday, and that didn't quite happen. Why?? 'Cause I broke my leg...
It was sorta a freak accident with some leaves and my bf and I horsing around after hanging with some great friends at the bowling alley. In a pile of leaves in absolute agony, I couldn't even cry because my body was having a hard time translating the pain. I heard two snaps and searched my leg anticipating bone to be protruding. Sorry for the graphic imagery but imagine my position. The police dispatcher gave my bf a hard time and threatened to send cops until they spoke to me to be sure this was a pure accident. Poor guy tried to pretend I was a stranger to avoid the hassle and get the ambulance there asap...
7 hours and 2 tylenol later, found out both the tibia and the fibula were completely broken. On the bright side, they were able to slide off my classic tall Ugg boot that my baby bought me for our anni (hence the sentimental value) which would have increased the tear flow if they had 2 cut it off. So yes, even at a time like that my boot was of significant concern =)
My mom stayed with me once I was transported to UMDNJ until I was settled into my room. My hunny and his mom joined us later in the day. And of course I found time to update my FB status letting my world know of my condition. Big thanks to all those special people with their kind and encouraging concern. And nothing can trump my gratefulness for all the calls and texts.
I'm trying to be tough, especially with the morph only one click to inject every 6 minutes as needed. But I have to admit, I'm a little scared. Surgery in the morning with an expected 6 week bed rest and possible 3 to 6 months out of commission. So all you religious folks, slide me a prayer, all you superstitious folk slide me a rabbits foot and all the rest of you, jus slide me a thought.
So I say all of this to say, sorry for not posting as promised. Hope you can forgive me =) Reporting live from a splint from thigh to toe...
