Thick in the Thighs

I was never a Real World fan... so no telling how I got sucked in this season.  It's cool though cause there's not too much over-the-top drama and they seem to have a bit of personality.  I just watched the newest episode where weight obsession was highlighted.  Ty told Callie she could never do PlayBoy because she simply isn't skinny enough.  Oh boy... why a man would think it's appropriate to downplay a woman's ability due to her weight is beyond me! Callie was pissed.  She has had insecurity issues because of her weight, so she's a vegan, she runs countless miles, and tries to make proud her physical trainer mom.  Callie works hard to maintain her weight in a house where it's effortless for everyone else.

Well Callie, I got news for you, thick thighs, being hip-py and a booty like a black girl has a healthy connection to your heart.  (Callie is far from big but comparatively speaking, she's the thickest in the house).

Thanks to research done in the UK and reported by a European news source, keeping the waist small and having a larger hip, butt and thighs protects against heart disease and metabolic disease (like diabetes).  I suggest thoroughly reading the article and check the right side of the site for some related articles.  Get educated!!

Just in case, I've highlighted a few key points:
  • Carrying extra weight on your hips, bum and thighs is good for your health, protecting against heart and metabolic problems
  • Hip fat mops up harmful fatty acids and contains an anti-inflammatory agent that stops arteries clogging
  • The slower burning hip fat also makes more of the hormone adiponectin that protects the arteries and promotes better blood sugar control and fat burning
  • If you are overweight, obese, or if you have a waist size that is increased, it is important to make changes to your lifestyle, such as eating a healthy diet and doing regular physical activity, to reduce your risk of heart health problems
Hopefully this somewhat dispells the media, magazine, television invoked need to replicate the bodies of supermodels... when the truth is, a fatty is God's gift to help keep you healthy.

SB: I don't know why they used J-Lo in the article... she's anti-booty!!
SB(squared): Thanks JD for putting me on.
